We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
drugs began to take hold. I remember Austin Shackles

Umm... doesn't ring a bell, but is that not the one with the shite
remote master cylinder?

I suppose the new owner now has the joy of cracking discs and wearing
splines to look forward to.

I think I may have to retire to the back of the shed and see what I can
find...

Possibly, but I'd thought that if you put a bike like that back on the
road again, you wouldn't get time to worry about the cracking disks
until you had sorted out the perished oil seals various inaccessible
places on (in) it?

I'd rather have an R-RS with much more on the clock, and that had
regularly got new service parts (for about half the money). Then you
could justify using it, rather than put in a planning application for a
museum.
