No, not the Valkyrie, or the purple goldwing, or whatever he rides. His
trip to Yankee's Tavern.Since I can't go next week.

Not a large crowd today, probably due to the weather, and I only stayed
long enough to drink two beers and buy a Collectible Beer Mug to add to
the collection (****ing tourist!)

Won't go into a whole lot of detail, cause I don't wanna ruin Jerry's
fun, but will say the place was a lot cleaner than I expected, and the
two girls behind the bar were a lot more attractive than I
anticipated.(I like chicks with nose rings, no idea why).

Took 249 up to Magnolia, 1774 to Anderson, 244 to Carlos. Some road
contstuction between Plantersville and Anderson, but nothing major.
Managed to avoid most of the rain until just before I got to Carlos,
then got a smattering, for about 2 miles. (My first rain riding experience!)

Before heading home, go ahead and go down the road to the lake, and
check out the spillway and stuff. Dude working the gate didn't seem
interested in charging a day use fee for just riding around real quick.
Not EXTREMELY interesting, but worth the 10 minutes it'll take out of
your day.

Came home via 149 to 1486 to 1774. 1486 had a lot of construction on it,
mostly on the shoulder, but between 105 and 1774 it was pretty sucky, as
they had repaved the shoulder, and about 3 feet of the lane, and I
didn't really feel like testing how good a job they had done as making
the road flat in the transition, especially since the roads were wet.

If I had it to do over, I probably would have stayed on 149 on thru
Montgomery and down to Pinehurst, but I've done 149 from 105 back to
Pinehurst fairly frequently, and hadn't been down 1486 in several years.
(That is a fine stretch of road though, if you can catch it when
everybody and their brother isn't headed to Lake Conroe).

Managed to mostly skirt the rain and stay pretty dry until I got nearly
home, when it decided to **** down some rain on me, about 2 redlights
before the house.

All in all, a nice ride, and I got some much needed rain/wet riding
experience. Thanks Jerry.

Well hell.. it's a damned shame that you won't be able to make that trip..

<chuckle> Maybe there will be a good crowd when we all gather up there..
For one, I'll tip my glass of iced tea and make a little toast to everyone
who
can't make it.. you included..

There's no doubt in my mind that Jerry and a few others.. will take notice
of the two ladies, you mention..

Hopefully, we won't be bothered with rain.. maybe it is mostly over for a
while..

You haven't mentioned the food or anything other than coldbeer and two
attractive ladies..

Dang those old wet roads, anyway.. especially the ones that have been
patched and repaired..

hmmm.. Jerry has probably planned this little outing to coincide with all
kinds of other activities and we'll be fighting bad traffic...

That's the best kind of rainstorms to be in.. the ones that give you just
enough time and are close to home..

Maybe you can steal enough time to make the run with us on Jerry's
little outing..

----Hey BiffB, first I wanna compliment you on your ''longest post
topic''.
It was mucho interesting, and enjoyable.
----Do me a favor, and tell me a larger Town that this place is by or
at.?? I read your directions, but did not recognize one single ''road''
or town. I suppose I could go to my trusty 10 year old Rand McNally
Atlas, but I'll wait on you, or anyone else, for that matter.
--I am certain I'm the onliest one of the 6 or 8 regulars on here, that
Does'nt know the where-a-bouts of this famous Biker Beer Joint (kiddin')
is. heh-heh-

Yeah, riding in the rain, aint what it's cracked up to be, right, now
you know??
(chuckle)

Here lately, the past 3 weeks, We've been rained on, on every little
ride around here.
=It's because of what they call'; ''scattered showers'' it will rain on
one side of the Interstate, and not on the other side. One side of town,
and not the other.

Do they serve homeMade coconut pies, and greasy HBs. ? ;>)

Draw a line in your atlas between College Station and Huntsville, Carlos
is about in the middle there.

It really didn't suck as much as I thought it would, the Rifle
windscreen kept me pretty dry, thought it did tend to leak a little
around the edges :P

Yeah, I had decided I was just gonna putter around town in the muck, but
after I ate lunch at the Indian food buffet, it was all sunny out, so I
called one of my work buddies, but he couldn't get a kitchen pass, so I
headed on out, solo style.

You want homemade pies, you should go to Strawn's in Shreveport, or
Royer's, in Round Top. I didn't eat at Yankee's Tavern but I'm sure the
burgers would be nice and greasy. They ARE in the top 10 biker
hangouts in Ride Texas magazine
(http://www.ridetexas.com/BestInTexas...007Results.pdf),
doubt if you can achieve that without a good greasy burger.

You'll probably need HoneyJay's computer for that link though, not sure
if the WebTv thing will do Adobe.

OKay BiffB, I located it. It looks like its about 275 from here, and 175
from Mesquite. I will send the above wwwridetexas site up stairs to
honeyJays computer. I like that little magazine, RideTexas, or whatever
ya callit.

We're drumming up a ride-meet to Palestine in a week or two (maybe) to
meet some Riders from another motoGroup. I see that Palestine is about
80 miles northeast of College Station.

So you live fairly close to that area, do ya? (I forgot if ya have told
us or not?)

You should get a hold of Jerry sometime, huh? Maybe?

Hell, I been there a few times. They have good burgers and fries and if the
weather is nice, there will be a lot of bikes. Mostly Harleys. Unless it is
absolutely storming, I am going on the Valkyrie.

Well, I won't be wearing one of my ratty Tshirts, for sure. I'll be the
guy in an Aloha shirt.

Give a guy a hint, is the Yankee Tavern north or south of Highway 30, or
is right at the intersection of FM244 and 30?

What time is Jerry going to be there?

Anybody from Austin want to ride over?
