storing bike

Hi im planning on storing my bike till next may as wont be able to ride till then,no not banned,any one know if it will be ok till then,it will be stored in garage,ive changed the oil and filter,will it need to be started now and again,or ok to just leave,any tips apprecieted,it will be 8 monthes,only my mate kept his mcn outside for 12 monthes and all is pistons brakes ect seized up,
