I just bought a 2005 FLHPI Police bike....shifting through the
gears...when I reach 4th, it sounds like a blower on a Mopar
engine...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz....it's not real loud, but noticable
compared to no sound in 1st,2nd,3rd, and 5th.
it's got 6100 miles on it, and I absolutely love it. I purchased it
from Mike's Famous Harley in Delaware.
The bike was de-commissioned from the New Castle Police Dept.

Does anyone have a clue on this one...?

What does Mike say about the noise ?

I'd probably also drain the tranny and
look for any metal powder or bits. A magnet
would catch any steel bits and bronze should
be recognizable by its color.
