Vulcan 500 exhaust pipe breakage?

In the last six months I've had to replace both pipes on
wifey's Kawi. Is this a common thing? I asked the local Kawi
dealer and he said some break and some don't but there's no
particular pattern.

Anybody know if there's anything I / she can do to prevent
the new ones breaking?
