Looks quite fun, but I'm really not sure about the sideways stance.
I'd have though a more normal stance like you'd use on a Jetski or
even a Segway would be a lot more sense.

It looks great in that video. I expect it takes a lot of skill however.

I thought the same. The only use case has got to be the military
because a squaddie with a bergen and a rifle can't ride a pushbike or
mx bike.

I think you may be sort of wrong here. You can certainly carry a modern
carbine/bullpup weapon while riding a bike, modern slings/racks allow
positioning of the weapon in many ways.

While no-one would try to MTB with a Bergen through choice, there are
other possibilities;

While MX as a understood by say, the Norway Brigade, is somewhat
different to that practiced by the military, particularly some of the
more exotic parts. If it's got an engine and can be employed, someone
will attempt to use it, no matter how they personally may be equipped.

There'll be one kicking around with a Hayabusa engine by the end of the
year.

I quite fancy lying down in the stretcher carrier operating it by
remote control though. Definitely the only way to ascend Snowdon.

Think surfing. With a road surface that can tilt in any direction, an
oblique stance is more stable than a parallel stance.
