fter reading this ng for a while I can see I'm far from being alone
when it comes to choosing a motorcycle from which I can reach the
ground. Is there a technical reason why most bikes have such a high
seat height?

I suspect monoshocks are a biggie. The top of the shock has to go
somewhere.

This doesn't explain the V7 Classic though!

Even Italians genetically tend to be over 5.5 ft
Those of us of normal height wonder at your problems

Just in case you missed it.....

Hi folks.

I dunno if any of you were aware of this, but I came across:-
http://cycle-ergo.com/

This seems to be potentially a useful site, especially if you are
interested in a rare motorcycle that you can't conveniently try on for
size at your local dealer.

regards,
CrazyCam

BTW, to save bother of whoever is copying posts into aus.moto, I have
cross posted this to the FS group. After all, we might just as well
merge the two groups and have done with it.

Cornering clearance. If the bike is to have a reasonable lean angle,
the footpegs need to be a good distance off the road, and due to the way
that most people tend not to fold too well, the seat therefore needs to
be a reasonable distance above the footpegs.

The Hyosyung GV650C has great ground clearance and excellent lean
angle. Seat height = 675mm

I can just see myself kicking my little legs in free space on the Citroen
SprortsBike until the suspension lowers at the traffic lights!
