I can understand why you would want to learn Greek...I'm not so sure why
you'd want to practice counting on a usenet group...?

Well, it's like this, I am still trying to figure out how some folk can
post and read postings in foreign characters, and others can't.

Both you, and Smeggles (Thanks, mate!) are using Thunderbird, while
    Johno is using Outlook Express.

I, too, use Thunderbird, and I'm wondering if it's simply a limitation
    of Outlook Express.

I had to count, 'cos there wasn't a mic to tap or blow into. ;-)

Hmm, looks like, if I am reading it right, you have to switch on support
for foreign characters in Outlook Express.

while it appears that Thunderbird has this set as a default.

One's written by a worldwide collective of programmers, one is written
by insular americans 50% of whom couldn't find Australia China or
Greece on a map. I wonder which group considered international
character sets when writing their email software ?

the various quotes and what people's mailers do to it is fascinating.

I saw the original fine in slrn, the subject on this post is a bunch
of I's with accent marks and the occasional upside down question mark,
    plus a little 1/4.
