1 less speed camera

  1. 62.5 kg?

IIRC, even ISO reckons "punters" weigh more than that.

My guess is an average of 85kg in Western Lardsville

  2. One of the reasons why some German traffic police are lobbying for a
minimum of 44kW/tonne on heavy vehicles. Unfortunately, they have a
frequent problem with foreign vehicles struggling up the gentle climb
on the Autobahn; doing perhaps 40km/h. That reduces the Autobahn to
effectively one lane in the hilly regions, causing congestion and
    crashes.

Because people are catching on? Like a bus doing 80km/h *up* the hill?
It's getting a bit obvious that the camera is faulty - even if it's
    only an intermittent error.
Or *maybe* he's just telling the plain truth? I notice how you cranked
it right up to using the word "conspiracy" to try and make Patrick look
silly, rather than just taking exactly what he said the way he said it.

Work for ACA do you? If not, then I guess you're just not all that
bright. Either way, I'm certainly not holding my breath waiting for
    your next high-quality, well-thought-out response.

I once got done in a 1982 Corona for 128km/h by a fixed camera that was
*just before* my turnoff. This turnoff is a corner that is sharper than
90 degrees too. Yeah, sure I was going that fast approaching *that*
corner. But hey, I must be just lying to make myself look good in the
eyes of my wife, isn't that right Detective Nev?

I speed every opportunity I get. (By 'speed' I mean travel faster than the
    posted limit.)
If I was to beleive the Govt, I'd be dead by now. But after 18 years of both
driving and riding I'm yet to have a proper accident (I have managed to bump
a few things at low speed eg. parking etc).
    How can this be?

I didn't fight it, because all they had to say was that there's no
proof I was intending to make that turn. For all they knew I could've
    been headed to Lithgow.

Incidentally, I have no memory of getting snapped because of amnesia -
that just happened to be the night I later wrote off the Corona 7km
    from home.

Loaded onto a truck yesterday. Gone. Good riddance to it,
that is the one these two fines belong to. The 2nd one up
the hill is the one they recently tried the same trick with again.

  11. I put it it you Nev, I drove past that thing every day on my way to
work. Why were two days close to each other I got tickets different to
any other day I'd be driving to work ???

I've just spent the whole bloody weekend marking student assignments,
most of them seem to believe that "I think" is a reliable academic
source. I didn't think you'd have an actual source for your claim.

    Next!

GB, you fail. Resubmit by friday next week.

  16. Read again the fact I drive past the bloody place every fecking work
    day.
Urm, how long does it take to receive the fine? Why have I ever only
received two, by that logic it should have been 3 or 4, or even 5. BTW,
I go late, and during those times would not have been blocked by other
traffic, could have been at 80 if I wished.
IOW, you have no logical answer, so result to insults. I OTOH was
driving the vehicle at the time, and noticed the signs, and know
the speed I was travelling at.

Yes, I do have other camera detected fines I won't argue with.
    these I will.

  17. 1st removed in NSW.
"The removed camera caught 59,000 people in its first year of
operation but that number had fallen to just 7300 in 2003".

If you put that down to people being too dumb to read large
flashing signs, I'd find it hard to believe.

I don't drive with a black box in my car. Pity, otherwise
I'm 100% certain I could have had just what you were after.

I've certainly had offences I've admitted to. The ones by
that camera I never did and never will.

The RTA admitted that they did catch "heavy vehicles".

I take that to mean vehicles with a mass above zero grams.

Having a team of bus and truck drivers after them they had to make
admissions before the full nature of the problem was exposed - If the true
nature of the problem was exposed all cameras would be removed .

IT WAS PROFITABLE. It is not now.

The camera is removed only after the bus and truck drivers realised that
they were getting booked when it was impossible for them to be speeding at
that point and started making noises.

Now that the camera is FIXED and not booking vehiles improperly, it is not
    catching anyone.

    So they removed it.

They will problably set it up somewhere else where there arent many
    trucks and buses,
call it a Bob Carr toll booth.

The camera was stupid enough tor report trucks and buses as speeding UP the
    hill.

Thats why it was taken away, stupid ! How stupid do you have to be to call
    it conspiracy..

    "speed camera does lie".

Dont believe its limitted to "heavy vehicles".

Not a possible thing - the laws of physics and all.

What are they saying about the speed camera if they said it was only wrong
    for heavy vehicles ?
They were using some super secretative momentum detection device that works
in a way that so secret that its not even predicted by Einstein or Hawking ?
Come on, its a speed camera, it was just badly designed, badly built, badly
programmed, badly maintained and badly covered up for !
