I don't watch much TV but that was excellent!

I can't agree on the winner though. In his yoof perhaps, but he sold out
    a long time ago.

I can't agree with about 90% of the Top Ten. Harry fucking Hill, FFS?

Yeah he was in there just because he made it to his own TV series. He
got there by being sufficiently bland.

I don't know who I would put top though. Even Bill Hicks rambled on the
odd occasion and got funny only to himself.

Can't knock Bernard Manning's success and of course I like his obsession
with offending those of a sensitive disposition.

Of the top 10 living comics [1] only Bill Bailey makes me laugh,

Peter Kay is a great sitcom writer/actor - don't like his stand up.

Billy Connolly has never been funny.

[1] I don't care too much for the dead ones either.

20 years ago he had me gasping for air too. Today? no comment.
How can Sweller not find some of Bill Hicks good though?

Reg D Hunter is brilliant if you ever get the chance. Ed Byrne is
worth seeing too. Having said that there are some damn good acts
missing from the list and some damn silly ones on it.

Just to confirm Champ's point about this being a futile discussion, I
can't stand Victoria Wood, & would've put Bill Bailey higher.

    However...
....I'm completely in agreement wrt those two.

I had that when I saw Chubby Brown. Obviously lots of folk don't get him,

When he was on form he was amazing. When he wasn't, he was dire.

Hog secured a place in history by writing:
HH's TV appearances and his shows have all been utter crap. But I think
his standup routine is probably the cleverest AND funniest I've ever seen -
and I've seen seven of the top ten, some more than once.

  19. I don't remember laughing at *anything* he's ever said except a line spoken
as an old West Indian chap: "I came to Hingland in um... [long pause] a
    boat".
