Chris Rock deserves to be in there for the Black People / Niggers
routine alone. As for Bill Bailey, I saw him live and he was about as
    entertaining as late-diagnosis pancreatic cancer.

I thought the full version was :-

"I came to Hingland in a boat ... ... ... nineteen fifty seven".

The material hasn't aged particularly well though.

I have a single Chubby Brown joke in my repertoire which gets a laugh
every time I wheel it out. Like Manning, he's written some great
material. Like Manning, he's often utterly utterly utterly shit. The
only difference is that Brown seems alright as a person, whereas
Manning's about as objectionable as one can get.

That said, if it was a choice between a night in the pub with Manning or
the likes of Dave Gorman (who I've seen live and had me in stitches, but
he's so fucking right-on it makes me weep) it'd be a tough call.

Yeah, but since I stopped watching NMTBuzzcocks, I've been in remission.

I was raised on a variety of records, including Billy Connolly's
Golden Greats (or something) which always had me in fits. Don't know
if it would not, but I still wander around singing the Janny song.

How can a stand-up comic sell out? He's paid to tell jokes, it's
    hardly a moral crusade.

  8. It may well have been. Perhaps I was so stunned to be laughing that I missed
    the next bit.

By becoming 'just funny'. By not making you wet your pants (with
laughter). By having your parents say "He's nice". By becoming old.

Do you not find that Chris rock, like Lenny Henry has overplayed the Uncle
Tom card? Well that and the fact that he's got a touch of the Jasper Carrots
about him when it comes to reacting to a laugh from the audience? He hears a
particularly hearty laugh so he repeats what he said (or in the case of
Carrot, the noise he just made) to eke out another laugh, then another and
another and another... 'til there's "wilderness" in return.

As for Bill Bailey, I saw him live and he was about as
    He leaves me cold too.

It's that kind of crap I can't fucking stand about him. He was interviewed
on TV a while ago and he was railing like **** against some of the new black
comics because they took the piss out of the "nigga's" and used the "Eyes
wide open Uncle Tom" look to get laughs. I was stunned, because I can't
remember when *he* ever did anything else.

And of course, by making a few mill and shagging Pamela Stephenson. A good
comic is on his uppers and gets shagged by everyone else.

He was also pretty good on the radio to start with (HH).

Haven't a clue how I'd order them to be honest. Don't agree with the
    order they had though!

Was this as Craig Ferguson or Bing Hitler?

Must check UKNova then, thanks for the heads-up!
