Tore apart my cb650 carbs for the millionth time and noticed one of
the o-rings on the end of the idle circuit needle valve was rotted
away. (All of them are kinda worn down.) I spent an entire weekend
trying to find replacement o-rings, as the guy at the Honda dealership
told me the only way to get the o-rings is to buy 4 rebuild kits at
    $25 ea.

I can't find o-rings that small. I tried some web sites, but gave up
after a while, as they are all manufacturers and sell them in large
    quantities.

Any cheapskates on here that know the tip on the deal?

Email me and I will be able to set you up, as long as you have a set of
calipers to measure the old one with.

The hardware store O-rings will disintegrate. When faced with a similar
dilemma on the drain valve O-rings, I looked all over town (Cleveland at the
time) with no luck. As you said, Honda only sells them as part of a kit,
auto stores may have them, but you need to know the exact corresponding
application that they fit on a car or they can't (won't?) be able to finid
them. I got lucky and a wrench at the Honda store overheard me. He said
that he had a drawer full of unused O-rings and gave me 4. I came back with
a 12-pack a few minutes later and we we're both happy.

You will end up with 25 or 100 of 'em but they will only cost a couple
    of dollars.
Your choice of material. BUNA-N, Neoprene, Viton. Teflon, etc.

More high end auto parts stores and automotive machine shops keep a stock of
I'd appreciate some advice from the group on this. I'm curiuos to know
if I would gain much from doing a complete rebuild. Do the jets and
idle mixture needles wear out? I got the bike before the summer and it
had only 13,000 miles on it. Now it has close to 17,000 (81 cb650). I
don't want to spend the money, unless I would gain alot.

    What do you guys think?
