So, what does a 16 stone bloke need to do to his (stock settings)
suspension to stop it bouncing around all over the place on fast
    country A roads?

Or where can I find some info?

    Different bike, different suspension.
Cheeky fucker. I'm perfectly fit and healthy, current riding 50k a
day. In fact I'm racing in a week or so...

Fast sweeping bends, leant over, any sort of bump in the road upsets
it leads to weaving and the front going light. Same roads never used
to affect the GSXR1000 which was also on stock settings.
I dunno, I was actually thinking a little less compression damping
might be a good thing, then the suspension would actually take those
bumps. Front seems to have more trouble than the rear.

They all do that sir. Bonwick has a fix, apparently.
I did wonder why you changed it...

I was under the impression he'd actually changed the shock. Or was
    that his 9R?
    Why I changed the bike?

I sold the GSXR so that I could put down a bigger deposit on the house
I bought last year. I bought the 10R because it was the best deal
around on a new bike, and I'd never owned a Kawasaki.

Hmm, I've probably got a good 5 stone on you though, more with kit
(I'm probably 20 stone with full kit).

OIC. Furry muff then. It's just amusing to see how much the 10R has
completely ecclipsed the gixxer as ukrm's clit bike since Champ and
    bonners got one...

    I still reckon the gixxer's a better[1] bike, mind, although I've not
    ridden the K6 or K7...

[1] For individual values of 'better', of course.

    Ace says...
I was riding a low mileage Gixer Thou K6 the other day, followed by a
brand new R1 and then a brand new R6. Of the lot the Gixer felt the
comfiest and most tractable at lower speeds. The R1 just didn't fit me
as well at didn't have the torque the Gixer offered up to running in
revs, but is miles better than previous models - the R6 was too cramped
even for little old me and needed more than 6k on the clock to get it
moving[1]. I liked the Gixer, it just felt right except for the plank-
    like seat.

    [1] Which I couldn't do cos I was running in a customer's new toy.

It is, but a new one would have cost about 2k more than a 10R, and it's
not a 2K better bike, IYSWIM.

It seems in the press at least that the K7 GSXR is a better bike than
    the 10R.

However Suzuki want 8.5 grand for one.

    I have just the road...

    http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&h...8104&sspn=0.019422,0.045061&ie=UTF8&z=13&om=1

this is where I've noticed how different it is compared to the GSXR.
From my rudimentary knowledge of suspension, I'd concluded compression
damping. I'm guessing that the standard preload is set hard for
someone of mini-Jap weight so should be ok for me.
Monday would be good if dry.

I'm going out with my brother on Saturday day to collect his new R6
and having a trundle around to get him used to it, then going on the
piss on the night for his birthday so that'll rule out Sunday.

Monday could be a candidate for a BOTAFOT - Stratford run if anyone
    fancies that?

Heading out of Henley in Arden toward Redditch. It's a fast (average
100mph) open country A road with nice sweeping bends that you really
don't need to slow down much for. Not many turning and those that are
there are visible from distance making it fast.
    Will do.
    Or just a Stratford meet.

Repeat after me - "always set the sag first". Don't even think about
messing with the damping until you've done that. It's highly likely
your 'race sag' is too much given your weight.
