  1. My passport has just arrived by courier.

It's so fresh I can still feel the cold on it :)

P.S. The first thing you need to do, apart from check your name, DoB,
etc is correct is flick to the back of it and fill in the "Who To
    Contact In An Emergency" bit.

I've never filled that bit in. No one's ever questioned it.

It's not going to be questioned up until you're very ill or in a body
    bag.

Remember, unless you happen to be a government body during office
hours there's no way to get your address from a passport. To Joe
public it's purely your ugly mug, name, place of birth and age.

I've never bothered. All of my mobiles have PIN locked after about 60
    seconds.

You have not consulted people about this though have you? They may
entertain a wholly different set of ideas about who should be called in
the event of an emergency involving you. I reckon you haven't given
this any thought at all have you?

An interesting list, from a Jungian perspective. Although I should
point out that even we wouldn't be crass enough to invite your bitterest
commercial rivals to attend your end, as it were.

So why 999? 911 is more international I would have thought and I
wouldn't be at all surprised if it worked in the UK as well. I have to
be honest though and admit that I rather wish it was 666.

    G'wan, really?

  13. In uk.rec.motorcycles, Brownz (Mobile) belched forth and ejected the
    following:
    Err, yeah, why not?

I might even stick my finger in a dyke.
    "Don't hesitate, accelerate"

113 for ambulance, 112 for cops and 110 if you're on fire.

Oh. do **** off. Please. 911 is the US code, 112 is the one most
    likely to work anywhere.
