Or keeping to 170... They obviously couldn't catch him last time.

  10. Being noticed is the first step upon the path to being caught.

I remember doing this before but yes, in a van though, not a bike.

    Got away, too :)

  14. Heh. Is right answer.

There's something satisfying about doing a runner from Plod, however
    irresponsible it is.

Well, I've done it. Anyone else?

  15. Works for me, on both counts.

Naughty TOG, you may get yourself accused of having sympathy with
    scrotes.

And I do so disagree. Doing what I want to do and no one finding out is
    much more fun imho.

  16. Oh, agree absolutely. What one wants is an "unobtrusive" bike -
something that doesn't seem to be going fast. Or something so shite that
no reasonable person will ever believe it *can* go fast.

But once you've been seen and pursuit is taking place, that's where the
    fun begins.

  17. I'm not saying I do it on a regular basis. I also operate under the
    radar, as it were.

  19. Half a century ago when my older sister was at college she did a lot of
psychology type training and one half term come home with the gem that
red sports cars got pulled more than blue ones. She had facts and
figures to prove it and the lesson stuck. Not that the colour is
necessarily any use in stealth combat but that They can be manipulated
much more easily than They had led me to believe.

I try to keep abreast, as it were, and these days rely upon the old
favourites of being as cunning as a fox, as wriggly as a worm, a
lifetime of near misses and knowing exactly how to feign a convincing
heart attack. For those moments when it is absolutely necessary to
stick ones head into the beam I find that Own Brand Economy Bacofoil
does the job well enough but can add significantly to the noise if your
helmet is not a good fit in the first place and shouldn't really be used
    without earplugs.

Twice. Many years ago on my Honda CJ250T, where the local police
Granada regularly chased me back to the hotel I lived & worked at in
Farnborough. Someimes I made it back, sometimes I hid in the dark
between cars in the car park and sometimes I was caught :)

More recently, I was chased for 12 miles at speeds upto and over
135mph by an unmarked car until I lost him. He came round the next
day with the video, which I still have, it having been used as
evidence. I was nicked for 92mph early in the chase, to which I
pleaded guilty, but was acquitted of Dangerous Driving due to the
officer not turning up in court. In my defence, I knew I was being
chased, but not by whom, at the time, since the car had no flashing
    lights or siren etc.
