    Thanks gentlemen/ladies!

How do you find out what parts you have in common with other year bikes? Is
it trial and error or is there some systematic way??

    Appreciated,
    Kyle.

How do you find out what parts you have in common with other year bikes?

One site called bikebandit.com has a list of parts and part numbers.
You can quickly look up what you need and if you see that part advertised as
a different year, you can look it up on this site. You might have to sign
in, but there is no cost to do this. There are other sites as well i am
sure. Usually for your year bike, there will be about a 4 year (or more)
span. Parts for hondas were fairly interchangeable on the 750's.

    Good Luck,

essentially, all the single cam 750 engines are the same. the parts are
    interchangeable .
there are some minor details but it's a mix and match.
how serious a 'restore' is it?
the colors of the tanks, side covers and nameplate details are different but
    still
nearly all the bike stuff fits. it's just cosmetics.
put together right, they will make enormous miles before you need to do
    anything.
change the oil and filter and go.
chain not too tight, shut off the sprocket oiler and use spray-on chain oil
    AFTER
the ride so it soaks into the rollers or use an o-ring chain and chain wax.
    good luck

  4. What he said. Only major changes were to the F1 (some gearbox mods) and
the F2 (big valves, hot cam, etc) but like the man says, they're all
    pretty much interchangeable.

    Hey, i'm bringing a '72 Honda 750 back to life myself. Not a ground-up
restore yet, but enough to get it on the road and decide if I want to
totally redo it. It's kind of a chopper, not really stock at all, and
looks great. I don't think I would ride a totally stock 750, not my
    style.

Anyway, most of the 69-78 parts are unterchangable, but there are
things that are different too, especially with the super sport models,
such as how the exhaust system is mounted to the engine.

The best resource on the Web for 750's is the www.HondaChoppper.com
site. If you haven't been there yet, you're in for a surprise. All
the help you'll ever need, and tons of photos too. Great guys.
