To get near enough 200 miles from any model 750 Suzuki you have to
    ride like a girl.

let it off the rev limiter once and a while and it'll improve.

It's hardly a shock that an IAM rider gets low mpg out of a sports
bike, they're constantly rear wheel steering and leaving black lines
    exiting corners.

I've got 218's on my 10R and I'll be changing to something different
very soon. They were ok at Silverstone and retained heat between track
sessions better than I expected but they just don't inspire confidence
    on the road.

My lack of confidence in the tyres is probably more down to Kawasakis
horrible stock suspension settings but before I played with the
suspension the bike suffered badly from front and rear wheel 'chatter'
and had a tendency to slide too easily on both wet and dry roads.
Other people have slagged off 218's as well and I don't know anyone
who's replaced them with another set of the same.

If I'd ridden on them with the bike handling well from the start I
might have had a different view of them but overall I wouldn't
    recommend them.

Not really a surprise for someone who rides a 'teapot', though.... and
this is coming from someone with a VFR ;-)

<remembers the rather worrying situation of 1 bar flashing on the VFR
speedo on 130 miles with another 40kms to go for petrol on an autoroute>

Why would that be worrying? Surely the petrol warning gives at least
    four litres of fuel left?

It's annoying, actually, that bikes don't come with 'miles to zero'
computers. I hate it when I've been nursing the gixxer on 'reserve'
for 30 miles only to find that there's still a couple of litres left
in it. It can make a big difference on a long trip pushing it close to
empty each time, effectively increasing range from 130 miles to close
    to 170.

How many Suzuki 750's come with 20 litre tanks?

I prefer "Organically sculptured fairing ... with a baboon's arse for
    a tail light". ;)
I reckon I've got 50 miles - once on reserve.

  16. I got 420 km out of a tank on my 600 once -- same bike, different
pistons. Mein Jew, it was in Norway, on 80 km/h limit roads (i.e. the
open highway :-( ) in nose-to-tail traffic and a Scotch mist.

It goes on to reserve and I can then compute that there are now "not
    many" miles to zero.

    Possibly.

I've been known to be quite careless with the "not many miles to zero"
    bit as well.
