    '96 CBR900RR (919) - looking at a crashed one for a possible track bike,
    couple of questions:

What year did the 16" front go to 17" ? (IIRC it was '98 but haven't
    found it via google yet)

What are the options for a 17" front rim conversion - is there anything
    that's a bolt up swap ? Any gotchas ?

Anything else to be aware of ?

  2. I think the 17" came in with the 929 motor,around '00.
The same time that the carbies were swapped for fuel injection?

CBR600F3 ('95-'98) front wheels fit, but the spacers might need to be
    specially machined.
Those, the first, 919's weren't the friendliest or the most accomplished
handlers. They have the usual Honda tail-heavy weight distribution and
vague front end. Fortunately, the nine-year-old suspension will be in no
shape for track work, and the necessary rebuild will give the
adjustability required to dial the bad handling habits out of the chassis.

OK ta, it's definitely 16" then - that increases the cost to get it
    ready a bit.
OK kewl, they should be reasonably cheap and easy to find - I know a
fitter and turner who can turn up some spacers for me free, was worried
I'd have to buy new rather than second hand.
Raising the rear/sliding the forks through will help that some, going
to make it twitchy though - better cost a steering damper in. And for a
nice change I don't have to worry about lifting the seat height 'cos I
won't be riding it in traffic.
Yeah and google brings up criticisms of flexi frames as well.

Hmm, suspension rebuild, yeah, I guess I'd better budget for that,
didn't include that in the cost I was mentally tabbing up. Oh
well, depends on how crashed is crashed as to whether I get it anyway.

Still the bike is only $1500 which makes up for a multitude of sins.
For a preference I'd get one of the first R1's for a track bike but
they're considerably more expensive. To be honest though it's more a
case of taking an opportunity - I've been vaguely thinking about a
track bike but didn't really have the dosh yet - was thinking a 3-5
year old 600, but this one landed in my lap cheap so I'm considering it
