Sorry for the cross post, not sure which forum is most appropriate. I
recently purchased a slightly damaged 1997 ZX9R in Atlanta, GA. I am
looking for some replacement parts for the bike. I have noticed when
shopping online that many things are only available for the 98-02 ZX9R.
Does anyone know if any parts for those years will work for the 97? I am
looking for plastics, seats and a gas tank. Heck, if maybe something from a
completely different bike (Suzuki, Yamaha...) would work that would be fine
too. I guess the bike is just a little to old to find much aftermarket
    stuff.

Also, I was wondering if anyone knew of any cool mods for this bike
(ideas, websites)? It is a little old, so tricking it out a bit could
breath some life back into the bike. I would like the bike to shed some
weight. It also seems a little sluggish in the low to mid rpms (a friend
said this is typical of that bike?). I have been toying with the idea of
trying to convert the bike to something close to naked, bolt on an
aftermarket exhaust (suggestions?) maybe some sort of custom tank. Not sure
though yet. I need to compare prices for different options. Hope to get
    some ideas/suggestions/comments.

    Thanks,
    Ed

The '98 ZX-9 was a complete 'clean sheet' redesign over the '97 so I
seriously doubt ANYTHING from the '98 will fit the '97.
