Picked up the FJR1300 yesterday and I'm pretty happy today. Lovely
ride down with old man riding bitch for the first time in 50 years. He
was a shit pillion and kept leaning into the corners making me hit
apexes too early. I told him off ... so the silly twat started leaning
    the other way to compensate.

One last sheck over the documentation and a quick ride out with all
the luggage on confirmed that I thought I was getting a good deal WRT
    age and mileage.

I've had a quick fettle reinstalling the original rack for day-to-day
use, rather than keep the fugly Givi rack on. Gave it a clean smudged
some tar stains. What's the best way to

.... remove these? (bloody google gruppen)

So, my brother's agreed to buy the GSX ata lower than trade-in price -
he's just passed his test in Jan so I reckon it'll see him OK for a
couple of years, rather than a 500 which I think he'd get bored of
    quite quickly.

So, 2 bikes in the garage for the first time in 25 years, for a short
    time.

    I am a happy bunny.

petrol on a rag. WD40 or paraffin do the job too with a bit more elbow
grease. Parking the bike in the sun to soften the tar will help.

    Does that fall under the
"If it moves, but shouldn't, but you really, really want it to"
    category.?

That would be cat 1c. Cat1b, is of course, shoot it. I believe the
original options were: "If it moves, salute it; if it doesn't move,
pick it up; and if you can't pick it up, paint it."
OTOH, I'm trying to suss the "Duck Tape." AFAIAA, there is duct tape,
gerbil tape, and titty tape (aka "pasties.") I don't think I want to
know why a person would tape a duck.

You know I've only just found out the difference between duct tape and gaffer
tape! Taken 40 odd years that has.

    Btw, sig sep fucked.

Tch! How could you *not* know the difference! It's obvious innit!

Came as a surprise to me as well. I thought duct tape came in the 'not very
sticky cheap shite' and 'tank commander' variants. Apparently not so.

Which, it has to be said, explains that I used gaffer tape to tie a load
spreader to a wheel before shipping and it was a right **** to get off :-(

Ya learn something new every day:

"In a 2001 NASA manual for spaceflight operations aboard the
International Space Station, duct tape is even called for in case of
"acute psychosis" during a space mission; NASA procedures call for the
use of duct tape to restrain the affected astronaut."
