Well Junior found a new home. My buddy Ed from the VTR list flew in this AM
from San Diego and blasted off southward at around 10:00 AM, with Juniors
rear shock groaning under Ed's ample frame.
Furthermore, the dude who pitched Gunther ( the newish R1100RS I bought the
other day) on his side yesterday in a parking lot, dropped off a reasonable
sized check to cover the damage which was slight but still an annoyance.
Pretty good day so far, right? Well not unless you take your newish bike for
a blast over Tam with Her Majesty riding pillion. Had a fine breakfast in
    1967 ( Bolinas ) and headed home.
The Beemer's reserve light doesn't light up till 240 miles! Yikes. I could
almost forget to put gas in this thing. It actually does the twisted stuff
pretty well with the preload up a bit, even with two up we made a fairly
respectable run over the Panoramic and the Fairfax Bolinas driveway.

  2. oh yeah, forgot to mention.... the beemer stock shocks are not that
great. when they start to get bouncy or saggy, upgrade to
{Ohlins|Fox|WP|___} and greatly improve the wheel control on bad surfaces.

Suggestion, if you go with Fox, do *not* overestimate your weight. I'm
230 lbs and generally ride with luggage so I got them sprung for '231+'...
bad mistake, was way too harsh. I've resprung the front for 180-230 and
its much happier, I probably should respring the back too, but its not as
bad, I just dialed out a bit of preload, and tweaked the rebound damping
    til I'm happy.

I am finding that out with the Fox on my VTR. I got one with the 900lb
spring and with the thing completely let out it is still rather brisk on the
old spinous processes. However it does improve the overall manners
    immensely.
    Thanks for the tip.
Is there anyone who sells BMW OEM online though, ala partsfish type thing.
All I am getting while sniffling around the www is a bunch of places that
only sell coffeemugs and light bars.

  5. full parts listings? I don't think so. but www.bmwscruz.com has an
extensive accessories catalog online, including Wunderlich and other
aftermarket stuff as well as OEM branded stuff.
