    5.5k for a 3000 mile 2004 (underseat pipes) minter out a dealer with 3
    months warranty. Good/bad?

I paid £ 4.4k for a 2003 with 4,400 miles last year (private no warranty)

Could probably knock the dealer down to 5k at this time of year.

I'd try but he's already dropped it by a grand from £6.5k (obviously a
rather optimistic starting figure). Also, he's giving me £3k for my 05
plated K3 SV1000s with 3000 miles on it (also mint and with Scorpion race
cans) and I'm not sure if that's good or bad either - whaddya think?

    Cheers.

It sounds pretty reasonable to me.

When I bought my GSXR it was in December 04 and the bike was 18 months
old with 4.5k miles on, so a similar situation to you. I got the
dealer down from 6.5k to 5.7k and got a brand new set of tyres and a
    datatag chucked in.

Mind you, I've just found this...

I've recently put a deposit down on an 06 model with the same miles
for 1K more than that and includes an alarm. similar mileage.
