The small telescope is a 150mm diameter Dobsonian.

The medium telescope is a 200mm diameter Dobsonian.

I also have an 80mm rich field refractor (my travel scope), the problem
isn't the telescope... it's the mounts (the legs).

Yes it would fit into the outfit boot, but I don't think I'd get it onto
    the solo.

Erm BTH there's only one instance of "12" on that page and it's in a
    time.. :)

However that page gives the same figures for equatorial radius as Wolfram:

    http://www16.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=Earth
    http://www16.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=Venus

    Venus Earth Ratio
    Equatorial radius (km) 6051.8 6378.1 0.949

However my halving the figures for some mental reason is the same one
you used that link to support the 12, OK ?

Why the boot? I don't think outfit passengers need helmets if they
    aren't people....

    Zebee
    - who isn't sure it would lean the right way in corners, but maybe
    with a bit of training...

We've got some Americans currently in town, who come every year. They
store their telescopes in Australia and every year seem to add another
5 inches onto their biggest one (I dunno who the lucky bastard is who
gets to "look after" them, but my boss has similar arrangements with
another couple of people too rich for their own good, and so
consequently has permanent loan of $20,000 refractors).

Have you considered leaving a 40inch dobsonian at bt's?

The remote is programmable, you set the time between shots and let it
go, you can delay the shooting or just use as a remote release..

    Quite a nifty tool

IIRC I read something recently on making your own remote for one of
those. The most expensive was $20, the cheapest was $5 using an old
Amiga joystick. Will see if I can hunt the link up.

I have a cable remote already, this one seems to be a wireless thingy
    which you can program?
I most likely am wrong about this.

If I was lucky enough to own a 40 inch dobsonian then I'd be really
tempted to leave it... errr... here! [1]

My current project is a 12 inch truss dobsonian which will collapse down
    into easily transportable pieces.

I'm not seriously into amateur astronomy, I just enjoy casual observing
(hence the dobs). I did try computer guided SCT's for a while but
    decided not for me.
