I can *kinda* believe it on a turbo engine. Almost, but not quite. On a
normally aspirated engine that seems a little too good to be true. Which
leads me to suspect £445 worth of Snake Oil

    Bad form etc.

Maybe if they offered a dyno run and money back. But they don't.

I'm sure Superchips would never do anything like that....

I'm assuming the test will be to observe the light, erm, light, and then
go out again. Like the ABS test.

My *cough* Multipla passed all the emission tests...

It's a very murky area - as they test the power at the wheels, and fudge
an estimated figure at the crank - which is what they quote.

The fudging is where they can make gains without anyone being able to
    raise a legal challenge.

So how do they sell Slick50 then. As Steve says, bit of a minefield.
Check their terms of sale and see if they offer a refund if an independent
    Dyno test contradicts their claims.

Only if you yank the engine out, test at the crank, fit chip, then
    re-test.

If you're testing at the wheels, the results will always be open to
    debate.

Dyno results are a bit of a black art indeed. But if mine was done on a
rolling road, chip fitted, then immediately retested, that would be
    acceptable.

I think their claims on turbo lumps are pretty much spot-on.

But their non-turbo claims look very optimistic.

Only if you're comparing wheel figure to wheel figure. Which don't look
anything like as impressive - especially when compared to the
    manufacturer's originally quoted crank figure.

....then I'd want to know why such a sporty car makes so little power
from such a big engine, for one thing.

If my plan of a new car comes off, then I was going to get one. An
easily undoable 40bhp increase in my case.

The garage people told me the same thing about mine. Nothing wrong with
the airbag apparently, it all checks out. I never bothered looking into
the cost of fixing the seatbelt thingummyjig.
