Not that difficult, really. I threatened to come last year, but got
sidetracked by Italy and Spain. The challenge is committing to a date
and buying a ticket. The R12GS is waiting in Heidelberg. I was
planning on flying in June, but it'll prolly take a week to get from
Germany to the IOM, and it starts May 30th.
    Done.

The best thing about it is being able to get perilously close to the
action - leaning against a wall with bikes doing 140mph+ down a public
road two feet away from you is quite an experience.

The next best thing is winding it on when you go past a genuine No Speed
Limit sigh. Woo, and indeed Hoo.

The worst thing is the Other People. Last year we made the mistake of
going near the Bushys tent. Never again. It's the same reason I avoid
biker rallies. I'm far, far, far too middle class for that shit.

I enjoyed it enough that I'm looking forward to going back this year.
Total cost being about 500 quid and a week's leave. Not sure I'd bother
    doing an intercontinental trip though.

A trackday at Phillip Island, otoh, now that I'd travel for...

Some right dodgy characters hanging around outside there.

Get away from Douglas and the twonk factor is lower. There's much more
to the island than just the course. There's the challenge of tasting
every flavour of Davison's ice cream to be attempted.

Oh, I know. It's a mistake we only made once.

One last futile attempt to see if anyone's going to bother.

The general air seems to be "I'll decide at the last minute" but I'm not
sure where we stand with the scout hut if nobody's committed to go.

Ben said the deposit was already paid. So the remainder gets divvied up by
    who turns up.
Nobody turns up = Scouts lose out, who cares ;o)

Good plan. Where do we stop if we want to go again after we've shat all
    over the scouts?

    Gaa curses.

Oh hold on, Scouts are all so stoned and drunk they will have forgotten by
    next year.

    I'm sure you do!

Nor could anyone mistake my comment as anything other than light hearted.

Well that's cleared things up rather nicely. Can we use the deposit
towards some quality time somewhere nice and warm?

In the absence of anyone else committing to going, I'm going to write
off my ferry deposit and find something else to do with five days'
    leave.

I don't really fancy shouldering the scout hall rental solo in the hope
that somebody else decides later they want to go over and split the
bill, so if nobody's going then it might be worth letting Ash know so he
can tout it elsewhere. I suspect that may mean we don't get first dibs
    next time.

Where was that village we all stayed in? I've never been able to
remember other than it being near some war cemetary and "some" miles
    from Florence.

I'm already tentatively planning to do Misano next year. And the F1 at
    Spa the week before.

Should really get my arse in gear and organise that. I fear it's not
going to be the cheapest fortnight away of my life.

That's perfectly fair. You have all the contact details for them,
don't you? I'm fine with letting it go this year.

But I'm equally happy with bunging you some cash, along with other's
who've expressed an interested but can't commit, to reimburse you and
leave the deposit with the scouts to hold it for next year.
