    hi,

can anyone recommend which are the most bulletproof road bikes in the 250cc
$2000 -$3000 price range. I have no idea yet. someone said Across, CB and
    not RGV or CBR
also, im 6 foot 2 so i need a big bike.
the old 185 dirt bike on the farm is just a little annoyingly small!!!
    cheers,
    Jason

GPX/ZZR seem bulletproof, so are the CB250's.
Across and ZXR250 are probably the biggest of the 250s

I'm pretty sure that most calibre's will go through any 250 (and
above) rather easily mate... a tank might be a better option ;)

kawa zzr known to be very reliable, Across reliable - but need to be
revved to get the best outa them.

  4. Depends what state you're in too. Some allow bigger bikes.

  5. You want to buy my GPX-250, you do! (Or if not mine, then someone else's.)

They're not particularly cheap, but the VTR250 is a comfortable bike 250 for
    a tall rider.

When I was a boy, my old man had a gig selling Fiat tractors.
As might be expected, the Fiat rep had a Fiat car. One day when
Dad got to drive the car, the rep said "c'mon, get up it, it's
a wog car, you've gotta drive it like a wog to get anything out
    of it!"

GB, I choose to end my amusing anecdote now.

I'm about the same height (and we don't acknowledge weight) and I found
both the VTR250 and the GPX250 quite nice.
The earlier VT250F was very cramped but most traillies and gNatalie's
    Suzuki TU250X are fine.

Not the Nine O'Clock News was a very funny British show in the early
    eighties.
I remember an ad parody that went
"Fiat; designed by computers [footage of computers and computer-design
    graphics],
built by robots [footage of robot assembly and welding]
but driven by Italians [footage of a Fiat majorly losing it at high speed]"

    some time.

The GPX250 is quick(ish) for a 250 and bulletproof and has good comfort
and good fuel range. It's the pick of the available 250's in the $2000
to $3000 price range for all round use. You might consider a CB250 if
you only want to ride in town or short highway trips. The spada is a
good bike in this price range too but they are almost all grey market
(which can be a pain when it comes to insurance and repairs).

  16. How about a classic European lightweight, one plug, no valves,
Brembo brakes, points and coil ignition, easy to maintain, parts cheap
and plentiful. Yes, it's the mighty MZ once again :)

The 'mighty MZ' will probably go for ever...
it's just that it'll go slowly for ever ;-)

I'd put the MZ singles in the same performance class as the CB250 hondas
    (but with more character)

  18. Or the assembly line where the staff called out "Hi Bob","How are ya
Bob?","Have you seen Bob anywhere?","I saw him over near Bob and
    Bob","Thanks Bob"...
    "Rover--built by Roberts"

I doubt that there's anything available that can't run on unleaded
(although some performance bikes and especially some two-smokes would be
    better off with premium)
    Anything since 1988 is unleaded-only.
