From this months Bike, I had no idea there were so many 250s available,
I thought they'd all but died out in the 70/80s. Did I miss something?

IMHO there are only about two or maybe three worth considering. Bet
there will be more next year, though.

Ooo, I'll have to get that ta.
    I can't miss the 3 x 250's I'm looking at now. ;-)

We have the YP250 Majesty I did up and now nicked by 'her' as her
XV750 is buried in the garage somewhere and not as easy on her new
knee, old back and arthritic left thumb as the twist-n-go.

Daughters MZ 251 Saxon Tour. Perfik for her short commute to work, 70
mph when she fancies, cheap on parts and light enough for her to pick
up easily when she jumps off it.

My CB 'Two Fifty' runabout that is there when I need to do a run
through the traffic, just fancy a change from the car(s) or a ride
with the Mrs and / or kid.

All cheap to insure, TAX and run (even for the 18yr old) and all can
frighten the cr*p out of you if you get it wrong. ;-(

Luckily, none of the bikes are 'cool' so might just be there in the
    morning.

He might be referring to the end of the 250cc class in MotoGP. If not,
    **** knows.

Because Kawasaki is cleaning up with its baby Ninja and others will
want a slice of the action. And I bet all the manufacturers have got
250cc engines that they sell in other markets. Just tweak them, shove
them in a horny-looking frame, stick a keen price tag on and watch the
    pennies come rolling in.

Yeah I really like the Honda VTR250 which is coming here soon. I saw
them in Australia. A mini Monster!

Did seem to be a hole in the market. Cheap enough, fast enough, as Tim
posted, good runarounds. I wonder if anyone does a good 250 trailie...?

Are they more reliable than Yamahas ;o)

Possibly the fact that young A-license holding riders are restriced to bikes
with a maximum power output of 25Kw for two years. At least that how I
    reason it.

A nine year old bike that they've just introduced to Europe as "fresh", for
the paltry sum of 5300eur in Greece, 550Eur less than the Bandit 650 list
price. The Kawasaki isn't that cheap either.

Both the ninja and the vtr have engines that are practically what, 25 years
old? Haven't they covered the development costs yet? In fairness, I think
the VTR is made in Japan rather than Thailand/Brazil/whatnot.

Mine never broke down nor let me down in any way, but I can't account for
    all Yamahas.

  14. Quite a lot around, yes, but the best seem to be grey imports.

is there a UK-non-grey import version of the TW250? I'd have one of
    those for a ****-around-town machine.
