400 four straightness or the lack of....

Well the head bearings are done, the new yokes are fitted and the forks
are straight. The wheels line up with each other.
Right handers are fine (for old honda values of fine)
Left handers...you'd swear the wheel is buckled...
Its the same feeling as before but now I've sort of chased it down and
found it hiding in left hand corners.
A possibility is the front mudguard; I had to bend it quite a bit to
make it fit the new straight forks so maybe the bridge is putting
pressure on the forks that distort them going left....
The tyres are good metzelers but old and a bit square at the back so
    might be a tyre thing.
    /sigh
The front brakes need a good service, dragging when they're off and not
    much cop when they're on.
And, to boot; a nice tapping noise from the middle of the top end......
The missus will go spare. No wonder she agreed to replace the other one
    with a brand new one..............

  2. No. Something's bent. Far more likely it's the chassis still.

I sort of knew this; (hence the post title).
Bugger. We're going to need a bigger shed......
I'll never fit another Honda in this one.......... :)

  4. rear swing arm bearings?

If the forks are straight, and the wheels in line, it shouldn't really
matter what shape the frame is. Mind, the rear swing arm pivot needs to
line up so the back wheel moves only up and down when the suspension moves.

what are the rear shocks like?

I will move on and have a look at these if I decide to persevere.
I can check that by doing a spot of chocking to get the forks plumb and
see if the pivot is level ....or vice versa might be easier.
    New.

I guess the head itself could be pushed back and be a bit sideways.
Need to strip some stuff off and measure a few things first...

Should keep me occupied for a while.....

'Buckled' implies it feels like a fairly uniform wobble? If it's been
sat on the side stand for years, it may well have formed a bit of a
flat spot on the left third of the tyres.

I presume you've check the spoke tension & rim offset too?

More likely it's the chassis moving ;-)

I'll have a look; tbh the tyres need changing anyway.
No. Would this not cause a wobble all the time though?
    Rather than just going left.

    I'm stuffed. Its become a mission :)

Explain to me how forks might move differently in right handers and
    left handers. It's not this.
I'd always get the tyres sorted first. They are easily the most
important thing wrt a bike's handling.
