This happened to Ruddles 'County' after S&N bought out the brewery too. It
went down from 5.2 to 4.8ABV and tasted cheaper.

The head brewer left in disgust and started working at an independent
called 'The Grain Store'. Funnily enough, their premium bitter now tastes
    uncannily like County used to...

    Er, am I missing something?

Ruddles County is made by Greene King.

What has that to do with Scottish & Newcastle?

Sorry, memory fade. The important point is that the brewery which bought
out Ruddles changed the recipe of their premium bitter.
