Depends how you measure value for money between cars and bikes.

In a comparison lap around Albert Park GP circuit a BMW 318i driven by Allan
Moffat struggled to complete a lap of the circuit within 190% of the F1 lap
record. I presume a 318i would be at least as quick as any $15K car.

A stock 600cc motorcycle for $15K is probably capable of achieving a lap time
around Phillip Island grand prix circuit within 125% of the premier class GP
lap record. That's one hellova machine you're getting for your $15K.

  5. 318i is a slow piece of crap even by car standards. A hyundai would beat
    it.

  7. Theo i had a 318i as a hire car not that long ago,and yeah SLOW is how you
    would have to explain it

Doubt it was under 12secs to 100km/h i was getting hosed off at the lights
buy EVERY and any sort of vehicle,i was thrashing it into redline every gear
(was a hire car after all) and just hopeless

Nice made and beautiful gearbox, handling, brakes and comfy to drive but
    GUTLESS for sure

Ok we'll give a Hyundai the benefit of the doubt and say it could lap Albert
Park in 185% of the F1 time. Now... the point you were making was... ?

  9. Hyundai Elantra GLS
    Specs at time of test
    Price: $21,990
    Warranty: 5 years/130,000km
    Engine: 2.0-litre 16-valve four-cylinder
    Power: 104kW at 6000rpm
    Torque: 182Nm at 4500rpm
    Performance: 0-100km/h in 9.1 seconds

The elantra is probably about the closest in size to the 318i four door.
There is a down spec version with a 1.8 lt motor which I couldn't find
quoted performance for. But really... performance isn't the issue with
    either of these vehicles!
