    Sad.

Not a single post ever as far as I can see - yet this event has run
for three years and brings blokes who ride from 1,500 km and more away
to participate. Honda step-thrus to serious heavy metal. And it's had
    national and international press coverage.

I guess there's just nobody in here that is into child protection or
anti-paedophiles while more important topics and petty point scoring
    reign.

But in case there are lurkers who may wish to participate next year
here is a link or two - http://www.danielmorcombe.com.au/

    This year's ride - http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems/200706/s1947395.htm

Never heard of it. I searched back through google, but I couldn't see
where you posted any links to it prior to the event. Obviously you
didn't care to spread the word. Does that make you a paedophile? I
didn't see any contribution from you in the Snowy Ride discussions.
Obviously you're a fan of childhood cancer. Thanks for coming.

7,000 bikes and they only raised $10,000. What a bunch of tightarse.
Obviously only the Suzuki riders turned up.

No, I don't think that's true at all. It's certainly the case that
people are more easily able to support something closer to home (I'd
have enough trouble trying to find time to get to a local charity ride
let alone getting to one a thousand km away and back on a weekend),
however I know that many people have ridden a lot of miles for charity
events (Nev and Jo did the Postie ride for example).

I think the relevant questions are - if you knew about it why didn't
you tell us (if you did I certainly missed it), and secondly WTF - 7K
riders and you raised $10K ? Who pocketed the other 60K - you should
have been able to get $10 of each rider without any dramas.

Charity rides are only as useful as their publicity - do more work and
    you'll get better results.

Even before that, John, why is there some perceived need for such a charity?

Surely child abuse, murder, kidnapping are all considered to be bad
    things throughout Oz.

    They are all illegal.

There are schools, government departments, health and welfare systems,
police and even parents who are responsible for child protection.

Quite why there is a need for this particular "charity" ride is beyond me.

    What the ....
    Your links say
"Daniel Morcombe is missing, feared Abducted and Murdered. He disappeared on
December 7th, 2003 while waiting to catch a bus.
    and
The tragic disappearance of Daniel Morcombe touches the heart of every
    parent.
An innocent, promising young boy cruelly snatched from
his family with no explanation. The pain is excruciating
    for his parents and brothers.

Where exactly does it say he was abducted by a paedophile? He could have
fallen down a drain or something. Where does it say he is dead? The kid is
missing and I'd never heard of it before now.

And while were at it, would you please organise another ride for the baby
whose body was found in a Perth tip yesterday.
    Get a life Mick.

Research into better ways to kidnap and murder perhaps? ;-P

A good question though - exactly what will be done with the proceeds
of this fund raising Mick / Sabbatai zevi ? It's illegal to give money
to the coppers as far as I'm aware, and while I'm sure the govt. would
be happy to take more of your money, I'm not quite sure how that would
help prevent a recurrence of this tragedy.

  14. It's called awareness!

But also a band wagon; it just depends on your point of view and that of the
    individual involved.

Was held on the QB weekend?...double-demerits, floods, road closures &
pouring rain...sorry, the gear was still saturated after our ride back down
south from the Gold Coast last Thursday.

    Rubbish.

"Australian Beer" is watery bitter lager. Which most certainly
doesn't describe Coopers, just 99% of the other Oz beers.
