It is low - but there is room for a V8 - the four cylinder is on the
slant - like half a V8 (which is what it is in fact) so it's just a
matter of filling the other side of the bonnet space with cylinders.

I think you may have a point - especially in the wet.

I think it would fit in the front of the valley OK... Though, I think 300
+bhp in a car designed for 100 might be pushing things a bit far.

My boss has got a TR8 hillclimb car. It's a bit hairy by all accounts.

They are hairy to start with - any tuning is asking for trouble.

PFF. A mate of mine bought a V8 TR7 rally car. The motor was far
from standard (lumpy cam, Holley 4-barrel) and it went like shit off a
shovel. We stage-rallied it, autocrossed it and generally fucked
around in it for ages. The only issues (apart from the head-bashing
rollcage) were rear tyre wear and fuel consumption.

Fit decent tyres and take the replacement costs like a man.

Decent tyres - You can't mean that there is anything better than the
    standard 145/13's?

A supercharged VFR800Fi (1) was featured in MCN last week.

Wheelies off the power in fifth, apparently.

    (1) Pre VTEC model, like mine.

Or "I'll just nip around this car before the corner", which works
astonishingly badly when you're driving 2 tons of Discovery.

    I am thinking that you're right - it's just I have this here 4.6 +
Supercharger without a home. It would be a hoot if nothing else.

Ah, I think I've seen that. It was an exhibition lap for some reason,
    wasn't it?

  14. Actually, a while back MCN carried a report on a whole new range of
    supercharged Honda vee-twins.

I met him & his team when i was`about 17. I was an apprentice motor
mechanic at Appleyards in Bradford & the rally team used the facilities.

Even if the corrections are wrong? 'cos that's definitely a v6. Too old
    to be a turbo.

The 2.0 turbo was indeed a 4-pot - and only came in when the 800 was
    facelifted in '92.

The registration on the red car they show at the start of the vid belongs
    to a 2.7 Rover exported in '91.
