Double the output? There's no such thing as a free lunch.

All in all a good day. I recommend to anyone. If you don't mind paying an extra $68 for court costs, I'd suggest taking all matters to court and trying it on (provided you have a good argument).
how are you going to prove the radar was faulty? Paying extra $68 for
no reason. would have been better going to work for the day

Er, I think I was propagating it, or did you miss the smiley?

    1 MW? from a 24V Battery?

This may be cause enough to dismiss the case, n'est ces pas? I'm pretty sure
that here in Victoria that they have to show you the alleged speed on the
radar if you ask to see it, and also demonstrate the machine working, again
    if you ask for it.
But IANAL and my only speeding ticket was in 1983 and I'm still pissed off
    about it ...

  6. Which is irrelevant to the power supplied, surely.

A torch with a couple of D cell batteries in it is about 4W.

  8. Why not? All you need is 160 1.5V cells in series.

  9. Pretty simple really, and for a few seconds only. That's the beauty of
an electric motor, you can get a hell of a lot more than the rated
power out of them for a short time, whereas the internal combustion
engine is fixed in its maximum power rating. Therefore, you will need
a much bigger IC motor for the occasional extra grunt than if you go
electric. I believe an electric car had the world acceleration record
100 years ago, not that I quite remember it :)

  10. First up, the pedant says it's kW.

The electrics provide the power for your vehicle?

  11. You mean pretend to ask a facetious question?

The 42 volts is to more efficiently power air conditioning, and power
seats and electric valves and all sorts of other electrical goodies.
Forty-two volt wiring and motors and so on need be quite a bit smaller
    than 14 volt stuff.

The current remains much the same. The voltage doubles.

In fact the current will be reduced a bit at lower speeds, but you
    certainly get a free brunch.

    I didn't say the 12V globes will take 24V.

  13. Ask him?
From his post he tried to get the best accelleration he could and still
    couldn't acheive it.

"My bike can't accelerate that quickly. I've been over that
stretch of road again and the best my humble 250 could achieve
with from 40 km/h to where I was stopped was the low 60s"

    Not required to show you.
The reading is obtained instantaneously. The radar
beam travels at the speed of light.
Hang on cookie boy, you said the car was doing 40 and
when you went around it, it was pulling over. Are you suggesting
that the 73 was the car? If so, then you were obviously going
    a lot quicker.
    LOL........good luck.

How long since you've been to local court? A Maigstrate
is now addressed as Your Honour, not Your Worship as was
    previously the case.
    Too right :))))))))))
