  1. Or better still, bung the phrase, quotes and all, into Google.

    I know, I know...I did, I concede I was wrong!
That's ok, My Mrs still calls a pap smear a pat smear
and the 14 year old daughter pronounces obese,
obeast. Then again, they have an excuse. They're
blonde! In this household it's referred to as the Kelly
    Bundy syndrome.

"......Also, there had been a few complaints on religious grounds
about the reference to worship, he said."

I'd have added a complaint on forelock tugging grounds.

  6. Awww, come on Spook, pick your act up, this is _usenet!_ You're _never_
supposed to admit you were wrong here!

In that case, doing 60 km/h down there is 'dangerous driving'.

you get get dangerous driving doing 40 in a 110 zone, its not just exceeding
    speed limits,
its taking risks .. driving so that you cannot stop in the distance that
    you can see.

Not really, it really does limit the speed you climb a hill at to a snails
    pace.

If you up the voltage, you must reduce the amps.

if you up the torque, you reduce speed.

but power remains power, and it takes power to climb a hill at a reasonable
    speed.

( It takes no power to roll down a slight incline, as gravity supplies it.
so the real test is an incline)

yes, I think he was refering to the injection of something called "nitro".

Ah, voltage ? electric motor ... no the tweaks were for internal combusion
    engine scooters.

The context was 200Watt scooters, irrelevant of what type of storage the
watts were stored in or what
type of motor got them out of storage.

"> The 42 volts is to more efficiently power air conditioning, and power

No, it doesnt HAVE To be smaller.

It can be larger. It can be smaller. it need not be as large as.
    It need only be smaller.

But thats not what you said.

    sure.

+ve terminal > 3cm diameter copper bar > -ve terminal.

measure rate in change in temperature of copper bar.

multiply by mass (in grams) of copper and by the number of joules per degree
    per gram,
    AND theres your watts.

Not really. Inject nitro, shave the bearings to closer tolerance, balance
    the cranks.
what mods are considered to change the engine and what mods are just
    'getting more from the engine'.

    mods are mods.

costly mods make it a performance engine, costs more per km,but should last
    as many km.

cheap mods tend to reduce km life of the engine, making it a bit like a
    sports ca

injecting nitro or using high turbo boost tends to make it liable to break
but it goes until it does.

Those quotas don't exist do they hey ? (Honest, they don't, they only
    have "performance measurements" ..)
Never had a discussion with anyone from the PIC about how bloody hard it
is to prove that have you ?

Really ? I couldn't be arsed putting the gun on you, I'll just pull you
over and show you the last reading I got ? It's never happened ?

(we all know that probably less than 1% are arseholes/lazy/corrupt, but
**** it stands out like dogs balls when it happens to you, and I've the
    court transcripts to prove it)

  17. I wasn't having a go at you, Spooky, just advocating Google when it's
a phrase that might be hard to find in the dictionary. Most families
(including mine) have some classic malapropisms. I think they are fun.

  18. No probs. I'll bet there are a lot of old farts who get upset at this
change. They like to see punters go red when they call the beak by the
wrong title (that doesn't mean a thing, actually). WTF is the
difference betwen an "honour" and a "worship"? Perhaps Google? :)

Can we have another discussion on that subject after you've ridden your
brand new supersports more than around the block ?

(I suspect your position will change :)

  20. Oh, bugger that. Sir or Madam is fine. And you certainly don't need to use
    it with every sentence.
