  1. Classic Bonwick comment! I love your refreshing way of looking at
    things.

I took some pride but TBF you have no idea of the effort it took from so
many people to put them there.
What they leave behind is only of consequence to man so of very little?
look at the blossoming of M. Nature around Chernoble.
Kill every last motherfucker who is prepared to stand against you. Isn't
that the first rule of war?

I didn't bother to read it but just knew you'd respond with some
    right-wing rhetoric/rant.

Do you have a bot that posts this stuff for you?

    Possibly yes, possibly no.

I honestly think this country should have nuclear weapons along with
the willingness to use them if need be. That means buying an upgrade
from merkania or spending a lot more cash developing our own missile
system and a new platform to launch them from.

Where I'm not decided is whether the missiles should be of the Trident
type or cruise missile type. I'm really torn on this one because I'll
probably get more overtime out of the latter.

I didn't think we ever actually purchased Trident missiles off of them
so how can we expect to control them?

It's what's known as looking after number one.

When I add it all up over the years I've spent a lot of time working
on weapons delivery systems and in doing so I've earned a fairly
decent wage for my limited skills. I've got 18 more years of working
and I expect a few of them to be spent doing the same sort of thing so
the last thing I need is a few attention seeking dullards trying to
    **** with my wages.

That few. Blimey. I guess your retirement age hasn't been fucked with
by the Government. I think I'm meant to go to 66 or 67, however the
state pension won't have any bearing on when I retire; to be honest I
    don't expect to get one.

I'm currently unsure whether I'd really want to retire anyway. I don't
respond well to having nothing to occupy my mind.

What, we're renting them? Do we have to pay for any damage sustained
    in use?

Not many people do, which is why there's been a surge in available courses
to teach retiree's how to live beyond retirement.

I'm not sure of the details but I'm sure we don't actually own any
specific missiles. I'm almost as sure that the merkins
service/maintain and store all missiles not out ready for use.

I can still retire at 65 but unless I strike it really lucky it'll be
worth my while to do a couple of years of 'consulting' to top things
    up a bit.
I used to say I'd not work a minute past retirement age but I've
changed my mind a bit because I know I'd be bored out of my tiny
    little mind.

I don't get this obsession with overtime. I'd rather have more time for
    other stuff.

So would I but in this country skilled engineers are treated as scum
    and paid accordingly.

I've been working on a project where sub contract companies get
screwed down on price so much that we're now wondering if it's really
worth the effort of carrying on there. The work is more technical and
the limits are much tighter than working on petro-chemical or power
generation but the people holding the purse strings either can't or
won't pay a realistic price for it.

That was a remarkably straight bat for my tongue-in-cheek comment.

Didn't know about the servicing/storage bit, though.

Just curious like, but what does a skilled engineer make per hour in the
    UK?
I've been working on a project for a major drug company for the past 2
months. It's being done on the cheap (I'm recycling quite a bit of the
demo material, conduit, switches, etc). The general contractor
superintendent keeps trying to get me to do extras (not in the original
contract) for free and I keep telling him to call the shop. We love
    change orders and charge accordingly.

It's the same for most "hands on" work these days. Mind you, it probably was
in "those days" too, but I can't believe what people expect for their money
now. Apparently, they all want the best but are only prepared to pay the
least and unfortunately, some people will work for the least making it
harder to make a decent penny in a normal week.

IT work not included, of course.
