A few things struck me today ...

... as I had to wrench myself from the rural idyll and go into
town. I took Elly's 9R, just to give it a bit of a run and me the
benefit of a fairing. Several things struck me, varying in their
    forcibility and welcomeness:

    1. Kawasakis play God's own music when given a handful.

    2. 9R front ends are much lighter than Bandits, but the turning
circle in an urban environment blows goats. I see now why Hog likes
risers and flat bars on sprotsbikes.

2a. The 9R artificial horizon indicator is borked - the clocks
regularly obscure the line of sight.

3.The insect season seems to have ended, perhaps connected to -

    4. The nodding season has started again. They're all at it, even the
FB on an enormous Gold Wing, dragging around every accessory in the
catalogue and a few home-made ones as well. The lad on the 'tard took
the biscuit, as his nod was followed by a sweet standup wheelie in
    solid traffic.

    5. Bike brakes are better than car driver obs - the old dear crossing
the road through two lines of traffic was visible to me, and it was no
surpirise when the driver in front stopped to let her cross ...

    6. ... the sound of an ABS-equipped vehicle sticking the lot on, on
Shellgrip, is unlike anything I've ever heard before ...

    7. ... the feeling of an ABS-equipped vehicle coming to rest against
the 9R's rear tyre is unlike anything I've felt before.

    8. Being "nodded" by a large and disreputable Glaswegian, fresh from
a seat on the pub wall and outside (by the visual evidence) several
cans of Special Brew is a really odd experience in many respects, not
least that I was wearing a full-face lid at the time and he wasn't.
Well, he wore the outside of it with his nose - as evidenced by the
copious quantity of blood, snot and assorted DNA I've just scrubbed
    from my lid.

I think I'll stay at home for a while.

  2. Is there a story - or is it being saved for a "Pip's late night tales"
    of the future?

Don't you think it's time you posted another epic as per your
Effluent adventures of a few years ago?

Mine doesn't come up without some serious provocation, and certainly not
as easily as the Bandit's. Mind, the Falco was a doddle[1].
Depends what you're used to, I think. I never notice a problem, but then
I suppose the roads aren't as crowded up here.
I never have that problem. See above.

[1] Not that it stopped me being crap at wheelies.

Yeah, why is this? Virtually every Kawasaki four, air- or
liquid-cooled, has always had a nice rasp to it. I mean, compare a ZX6R
    against a CBR600. Or an old Z900 against a CB900F. Or a ZZR1100 against
    a Blackbird.

And don't get me started on the music of the two-stroke triples.....

    That three-cylinder shriek....

    The jangle from the pots....

The scream of the straight-cut gears...

Sod it, I really, really need another 400 triple.
