Anyone ready for a hydrogen tank between their knees?

"The opening of this station marks a new phase of development of the
infrastructure for the hydrogen economy. In the next few years, perhaps
2010 or 2012, fuel cell vehicles will be commercialisable. By 2050 we
believe that hydrogen will be playing a significant role as an energy
carrier, increasingly made from non-fossil fuels,"

I thought more sensible to put the tank and recycling unit at the rear?

Why not? 99% of power station generators around the world are cooled by
hydrogen. To date, I know of only one explosion, and that was at
Hazelwood Power Station back in around 1979. And that was the result of
trapped gas not being properly purged during maintenance activities. 3
    people were killed.

H2 in its purest form as as safe as any inert gas. Its LEL is between 4%
and 74%. So, it's easily managed.

And in any case, it's probably no more dangerous than LPG in automotive
    uses.

Indeed; I was just asking. Couldn't be any more dangerous than 20l of
petrol (heavier-duty, better-built storage, for a start). I would consider
a bike with an LPG tank too, if there was any such thing.
