A little motorcycling tip for you all

  1. Today I learned something... my bike goes around corners much better
when it has the correct volume of air in the tyres. It seems I've been
riding it for weeks with about 2/3 pressure in each tyre. What a div!

I was so happy with my new found ability to go round corners that I went
on a little ride to Box Hill for the first time (first time on me bike
that is...) earlier. I didn't stop at Rykers though in case I got
laughed at and poked with sticks for still being on L plates. Although
it looked pretty empty in the car park.

2/3 the correct pressure! Pah! I once rode my CRM 50 miles and then
checked the pressures as it was handling 'a bit funny'... 8psi front and
    10psi rear.

  3. "Handling a bit funny" - LOL! I couldn't believe what a difference being
9-10psi down in each tyre made, so I dread to think what that must have
    been like.

I put the crap handling of my bike down to a mix of my inexperience and
the gritted roads but it turns out it handles better now on gritted
roads than it did on clean/dry roads back in October! I guess I didn't
notice the change cos it was gradual. D'oh.

I thought Boxhill and Rykers was out of fashion now?

  5. That would certainly explain how I came to find myself there. I don't
really seem able to do "fashion".

Actually it wasn't too much different from normal as I had knobblies on that
were only barely legal anyway so the handling on the CRM was always a tad
'interesting'. I seem to recall describing it on here a couple of years ago
as "like riding on marbles. On ice".....

  8. Heh! I knew I'd spelt it wrong, but I didn't know how to spell it right
and couldn't be arsed to look.

Someone had the ZX9 at 6psi on the front. Only checked it as I was
pillion. Silly fucker. Though he's muttering something about Loz on a
    BOTAFOT.

I am of the considered opinion that he revels in the handling
problems. The fact he's involved with me lends weight to this theory.
But how long were you wondering for before you checked?

Made for impressive exits to corners though, not so hot over Bear's leap
    mind.

I had an MZ down to about 10 in the front. I only noticed when I felt the
rims 'making contact' as I mounted the pavement to avoid a bit of traffic.

It was handling a touch on the odd side but I put that down to the Earles
    forks.

I was just following like a lemming. So, it's all your fault.

  14. That's because the type that go to Box Hill are generally the fair
weather brigade. I don't particularly like the atmosphere up there but
may go next summer just so I can park my bike next to the just bought
the bike and leathers brigade. If you feel you might be in trouble,
smear yourself in mud, they won't come near you.

Don't worry about the L plate thing.
