Ah - more the "Cleopatra" era. Let us also be duly respectful of Dame

(Timo knows the answer so is ineligible and *will not be bribed*)

    The question is this:

How much for an annual insurance premium for my son, Jamie, on his
    newly-acquired 125?

    Key facts:

    1. He's just turned 17.
    2. Address just outside the London postal districts, but close enough
to London to have an 0208 phone number. SM1 postcode, for the picky.
    3. Third party only (TPO) cover.
    4. Bike is a Honda CD125 Benly, 1984 vintage, so not (one assumes)
particularly high risk as regards theft or crash potential. Value of
bike about £350-400 (rather more than I paid for it).
    5. One year's NCB from the DT50MX that preceded it.
    6. Obviously, no excess, as it's TPO cover.
    7. Clean licence.
    8. He hasn't passed his test yet, not even Part 1.

    Go to it.

Close enough, and definitely the closest. The actual premium was £243
and some pennies, which I thought was remarkably good. Thank you,
    Auntie Carole.

(This means that Pip Luscher's assessment that it was going to be a low
figure, and why, was right on the money, too)

He's starting driving lessons soon. I can't see that any car insurance
is going to be within £500 of that figure.

    some time.

That makes it all worthwhile. :))

Interesting, though, that SOBs are considered low risk even for
teenagers. I shudder to think what it would cost for him to insure, for
    example, an Aprilia RS125.

    <Thinks>

Didn't Doc Gonz0 have one as a learner bike, way back when?

If you know anyone near Sutton, Surrey, I'll throw a bottle of wine
into the Underground Railway. Alternatively, I'm seeing Prawn and maybe
    BGN on Wednesday night.

    TOG@toil, ,
yes, and he was immensely slow on it.

fat bastard + 125 "race rep" does not equal rapid progress.

Of course, when he past his test he bought that Laverda 750S, and was
even slower from A to B as it kept breaking down.

It might be interesting to meet people (Yes, I know, NAHAY) so I'll hang
on for a meet thingy somewhere thanks.

Another point in favour of waiting is that I've never met anyone from
here IRL[1] & I don't really know where anybody is so I can't say if
Prawn or BGN are anywhere I'll be over Christmas (Christchurch &
    Eastbourne).

[1] As far as I know

We're visiting MIL & BIL in Eastbourne for Christmas/Boxing day and I
suspect Ii would be suicide to go out for a drink with somebody "not
family". Rye appears to be stretching the "Just taking the dogs for a
walk" line a little far, according to Multimap.

Anyway, I can't go out to meet somebody I've only met in the interweb,
not after the lectures we've given my daughter. How do I know you're not
a stunningly attractive and flexible 20yr old girl who wants to use my
    body in exotic ways[1]?

[1] I don't suppose you are, are you?

I used to think that until I started meeting this bunch of cunts IRL.

Bwahahahah. I'd better leave it for others to answer. It won't be pretty.

I've got this mental image of a very old Terry Thomas in a flying helmet
& goggles with a big handlebar moustache saying "Nothing wrong with a
    bit of danger, flyboy".
