A question of taste.

Assume you have a ten-year-old GoldWing, with missing paint chips on
    the lhs pannier lid.

A respray seems a little over the top.

A new lid is approx £275. No, really.

Would it be beyond the bounds of reasonable taste to affix stickers of
places visited to the aforementioned lid?

Just stick some gaffer tape over it and claim it's a sports bike. It's
    always worked for me.

    I know a good painter....

Velly cheap, plenty bargain (he charged me £180 for the full respray
on the Morini - tank and 2x side panels in two colours with a painted
pinstripe. And it still looks good two years later. Apart from where
some f*****r dropped something on the tank at work and chipped it,
    right on the top.

  6. In your case I would have thought it mandatory!

But be careful if you ever want them off again/they fade, etc. they
can be a bugger to get off, as the couple who cleaned up my X7 racebike
    of sponsors' stickers found out!

You can even get different coloured duct tape these days, but black or
    solver goes with anything.

Be very, *very* careful when using a hairdryer to remove stickers. It
is possible that you could also remove some of the paint.

If this happens on say, a two month old bike, you might actually want
it repaired and it could cost you ?80 + vat. DAMHIK,IJD,OK?

  16. Oops. I think the problem there would be the newness of the paint.
Certainly isn't usually a problem on older paint that's well-matured
    (ie, shite).

Problem is that the chips are out of the large, dark red, panel. Which
is a metalflake decal, lacquered over.

Problem 2 is that it's 10 years old, worth next to bugger all, and
hasn't been cosseted for more than ten minutes in its entire life.

A respray would almost demand a full paint job, because of the obvious
contrast, which would cost about what the whole heap is worth.

I'll cost up a full set of plastic, that'll put me off.
