Supposed to be good riding weather for the A&S antique and vintage
motorcycle show and open house on Saturday.Free food, demo rides on the
whole line of Beemers, as well as Vespa and Piaggio scooters, if you've got
a motorcycle endorsement.Did I mention LOTS of free food? I'll be there all
day, and Xlax said he'd show too.........Howard

Will you be doing any tire contact patch comparison demonstrations?

Yup, Roseville. Riverside exit off I-80. A&S is about 300 yards off the
freeway, just go straight off the exit and cross Riverside onto Orlando.
    Can't miss it.....Howard

  5. Yes Tim... come on out and stay awhile at the Busy Little Shop... I'll even
do a contact patch study on your HD... besides I think our weather is nicer
than your patch of Virginia anyway...

Believe me, I'm tempted. As Justin pointed out elsewhere, yesterday it rained a
    drenching, steady rain all day long, and the temps never got out of the 40's;
falling from the high 40's in the morning to the low 40's by evening for my ride
    home from work. Yuch!

I am, however, taking some solace in planning my annual Daytona (now with the
added attraction of Key West) trip for early March. Hey, only four more months!

Actually, my former racing partner has made noises about just such a trip....
    it could happen!

We're only there for three days, and our wifies are joining us. They will shop
whilst we stand outside the shops in the warm sunshine and bullshit about
bikes. Then, we shall retire to a steakhouse for dinner and conversation. We
shall rent scooters and scoot. We may go fishing. We may go snorkeling. At
any rate, buying off the wives with 1/2 a vacation so that we can enjoy Daytona
unfettered is perhaps the best Bike Week idea so far! I'm amazed that it took
me 18 years to come up with it, but then again, it's not so surprising.

  10. I just got home from the ride down to Sack'o'tomatoes (well, Citrus Heights,
anyway ;-) and the A&S open house. It was a great day for a ride (I took 49
to Auburn and 80 to Sac and returned via 65/70 to Marysville and 20 back to
Nevada City.) and could not have been better for the event. The old bikes
were great! I was amazed at the number of Triumph (mostly Tigers and
Bonnevilles) but my favorite was the Ariel Square 4. A very close second
was the early '60's NSU. Its owner, Ted, had only recently taken possesion
of it and seemed to be enjoying learning about it as others offered bits of
information they could recall! The food was a ham and turkey dinner with all
the fixings and was excellent, as was the conversation while sitting out
    front and eating.

Many thanks to A&S for an excellent open house!

Mike how could we be at the same event and not run into one another??? in
fact my friend Veeek talked the guy into starting up his Ariel Square 4... I
got to blip the throttle... very distinctive sound at idle...

  12. It might be that, in a parking lot filled with hundreds of bikers, many
of whom were, like myself, more inclined toward long distance touring than
being ricky-racer-wannabes, I met some with whom I was more interested in
speaking. (I also enjoyed the uncommonly low representation of the annoy-
    the-neighbors (AKA: loud-pipes-save-lives) set.)

Or maybe we just weren't there at the same time. I wasn't there all day.
I do wish I had seen and heard that.
