A tale of three Triumphs

  1. Could've been a Henderson, too.

Or an FN, but you've never struck me as one for really early bikes. I was
thinking of that horror that showed up at the NEC a few years ago.

  3. Nah. I like Trumf triples, but what appeals about the 675 is that it's
*so* small and light, and yet roomy enough for a fat git like me.

And it is, let's face it, stupidly cheap. £5.7k otr, or well over two
grand less than the Speed Triple. Bloody wonderful.

I agree. I think the big Triumph triple engine is brilliant. I've
not had the chance to have a go on the 675 yet. <hint...>

Mind you, the 180 degree Jota is probably the most brutal engine I've
    ridden.
heh. Well, you're obviously preaching to the converted with me, but I
    agree completely.

Fair enough, I just wouldn't describe it as having an abundance of torque.
Aye. Personally I wouldn't but each to their own.

I've got this theory that it's because Kawasaki Motorcycles, being
arguably a PR job for Kawasaki Heavy Industries, have a "because we
can" philosophy, whereas Honda Motorcycles being just Honda
Motorcycles have a "because it's what we are" philosophy. Don't know
if that makes much sense, but that's my thoughts.

Well, given that I was talking about a 955 Sprint ST, you'd think that
was a little later than the Trident.

What on earth has your post got to do with anything in the post that

I'd agree. For example, the CX500: a high-revving, watercooled, pushrod
v-twin. With shaft drive. And it's - eventually - massively reliable, and
a huge seller. So they turbocharge it... Kawasaki made do with the GT550,
which was also successful, but fairly meh. Kawasaki soldiered on with an
interminable stream of across-the-frame fours, while Honda produced a
dazzling array of v-twins, v-fours, flat-fours, flat-sixes and the like,
while still turning out decent conventional fours. Kawasaki managed the
occasional v-twin cruisers, and an across-the-frame six, but Honda did one
    of those as well.

I just happen to have a nice KTM available that'd be just right for
your daily commute. Much cheapness and plenty of fun.
