I was stopped a while back by a very polite officer on his own in
uniform in an unmarked Astra hatchback with no outwardly visible
equipment. I did see the flashing headlights and blues behind his grill
    though.....

  2. The one that got me on the way to the EOSM in 2002 (or 2003) was
    alone.[1]

[0] He was good, though, in that after clocking me at a steady 110 or
115, he left the average speed thing running while I went up a
sliproad and round a roundabout (quite slowly, as I didn't know where
I was going). So the average turned out to be 80-something over three
miles, and he gave me a warning.[1][2][3]

    [1] For the speed
[2] For wearing jeans and trainers
[3] For the race akrapovic system

and me, although it was a marked car

on the A40 between Raglan & Abergavenny in a BMW325i c.1988. My VASCAR
    awareness day.

Wouldn't happen nowadays as traffic cars are very scarce and I'm guessing
the lease on the camera vans have come to an end too. It's quite
enlightening to live in an area where the plod have openly said, "cut our
resources and we will ignore the roads."

They're bloody not, you know. Not between here and Bristol, anyway. Ever
since the traffic wombles took over routine duties on the motorways,
trafpol have been cruising around in unmarked cars looking for prey.
    Swindon's crawling with the fuckers.

That's the magic of an unmarked car. They're hard to spot.

Kind of obvious once they've shot up behind you and matched your speed
for two tenths of a mile, mind. And then the blue lights are a huge
    giveaway.
