Is this your subtle way of saying to the world that you've got the
    acceptance letter?

  13. Well done. For some reason I was aware of those details but just wasn't
sure that it was all confirmed.
Well I'm sure you'll survive the shock of work - just ;-)

I'm not so convinced- it'll be the first time he's had to work in about
    5 years I think.

Corporate culture isn't the reason I do anything, my own personal sense
of ownership is, particularly when what I do goes against the corporate
culture... I suspect right now isn't the time for this conversation.

Or to get a decent wage each week. It does help of course if you get
paid for the hours you actually put in (above a minimum) because no
way do I work any overtime at all unless I'm getting paid for it.

Our lot wanted to go down that route with statements like "you're
professionals" and "you're salaried now" which were met with a "**** off".

There was a minor instance of their reading of a carelessly worded
agreement which caused a bit of bother but that was resolved - "robust
    compromise".

Champ emerged from their own little world to say
To a certain extent. She does some good research on "family friendly
policies" that is gender neutral. She concludes that they often fail and,
perversely, propagate presenteeism that you mentioned earlier. In some
companies, those parents who take time off for childcare, especially
paternity leave, are perceived weak and overlooked for promotion.

Her other research that I find interesting is the way that companies try to
manipulate consumers through emotions. She researched a US airline that
employed mature women as trolley dollies. Apparently this produced more
return business as their core customers, middle aged businessmen, liked to
    be mothered.
