    Bloody Northampton police wanklers.

I see the A428 has got average speed cameras on it now.

Was a nice road to ride on at one time.

Anyway, found a few nice roads so that was good. :)

Sometime around Sun, 04 Sep 2005 21:25:27 +0000, frag babbled on about:
That would be then Brafield Denton area then, I have a feeling the
Northampton to Bedford road has 7 cameras on it now. As you say move a
few miles and all is good again.

Ovenpaa? He'z just ziz guy, you know?
There are three camera post locations, just south of Brafield (where I
turned off west), about 5 miles south and again 5 miles south. And a
couple of forward facing cameras in the villages.

Sort of ruined it from about 5 miles north of the Olney roundabout upto
    N'hampton.

Why would cameras in the villages ruin your ride as a matter of interest?

Little things like all the cars slowing down to 20mph, people and kids
wandering around going "oooh, its so _quaint_!"

    Bloody inconsiderate I tell you.

Rope? He'z just ziz guy, you know?
There's a pole on either side of the road, so they face both ways. And
from other SPECS sites I've seen these buggers can be mounted either
way, so if the people who set up the software had half a brain they'd
make sure each camera covers both lanes and records both front and back
    plates.

Unless anyone who knows more about the system knows different?

And as to the purpose of my reconnaissance, a dozen or so bikes
blatting through those cameras every sunday would get the attentions of
plod rapidly I would have thought.

I feel it is my responsibility to set off all speed cameras while out
    for a ride.

    dwb says...
The cameras were intially put on a section of road that was a 60mph
village bypass, which was dragged down to 50mph IIRC. I avoid Northants
like the plague, the local council and traffic revenue
departments/Police are a fucking danger to my licence and the roads are
shit anyway. Cambs, Bucks and Oxfordshire are far friendlier places to
ride fast with far better roads.

Beds isn't bad for cameras, but I think the local councils have spent a
total of 30p over the last 10 years in road maintenance. Some main roads
around here are like fucking third world dirt tracks in places.
