    Poor starting is invariably ignition.

Try new plugs (especially if they're more than two years old) and
    check/set points and timing.

Even with all the ignition sorted, from cold, my Thunderbird always needs a
good tickle, then a kick or two, then a second good tickle before it comes
to life. Did my head in until I got the ritual nailed.

Forgot to say that the first kick or two are with the ignition off.

Neither - see the badge saying "BSA"? That'll be it. Stick a Triumph badge on it ;-)

WorkTOG was seen penning the following ode to ... whatever:
That would probably get you an adverse reaction :)

You are not going to believe this, but as I was sat here reading this I was
aware that my lad had been outside for about 10 minutes trying to start the
TS with no luck at all. So I wander out, with the air of "someone who
knows" and suggest he kicks it over a few times with th ignition off. He
duly does this, switches it back on and voila, instant
ring-ding-a-ding-dingg. "How did you know that would work?" he asked, "ah"
says I "I just know about this stuff"

    Nice one, TVM.
