Aarrgh. Just when I have some dosh

  1. The Doctor comes in and says that her lab's engineer (fixes all the
bizarre medical machinery) is selling his allegedly immaculate Moto
Guzzi Le Mans Mark Two, wot has been sitting unusued in his garage for a
    while.

Asking price ukp1900. I have always wanted a Lemon Two. And I have the
dosh. And The Doctor thinks it would be a good idea.

    Nurse! The tissues!

You really mean, in the real world: matey wants 1900 quid. He thinks
it's worth more like two grand, but, sportingly and to avoid round
figgers, he'll let it go for 1900 quid.

You, On The Other Hand, have 1200 quid and want change for a case of
    port for Christmas ...
The screens too, dear. Bless you.

You know you just have to treat yourself to this.
Good price too. Just check the starter motor out well, and the driveshaft UJ
under the rubber gaiter first though, as these will cost ~£200 each min, and
although the starter packing up won't kill you (1), the UJ disintegrating
    may well do (2).
    (1) bump starting a Guzzi can cause some discomfort though!
    (2) Yes it happened at ~70mph on a downchange, with some metal fragments
actually *piercing* the 3mm+ thick section of the swinging arm it lives in!
*Very* nasty, trust me on this.

    Have a great xmas,

  9. I owned a couple of Spadas in the 1980s, so I'm well familiar with
replacing the UJ. I think the extra torque on the 949cc engine knocked
    them out quicker.

I've still got the special tool for adjusting the points, hanging up in
the garage. I last used it for stirring a pot of paint.

Points! Eeeeew. Such a bloody fiddly job rotating the points housing with a
sodding hot engine, I fitted Pirhana to both of mine. Set once, then check
every service. I think I've only had to adjust the ignition once in the last
85k miles (since the time I fitted the new camchain and the sexy "Spares GB"
    automatic tensioner assembly).

    AOL.

Ignition, Lucas RITA is lovely and a genuine Moto Guzzi automatic
camchain adjuster on mine. As well as a Suprissa alternator, as found on
later the V65, better than the OE Bosch unit.

  16. That's what the tool is for.
Well, if this one doesn't have aftermarket electronic ignition fitted,
    I'll fit it.
