    Hi everybody
    (Hi Dr. Nick)

I scored a wonderful boondoggle: at the end of July I attend a
one-week class on wilderness, ecology, etc in Jackson Hole
Wyomin (in the Rocky Mountains). I decided to take an extra 6 days
of vacation so I can ride my trusty R1100GS. I have
looked at a few maps to try to plot a route - and then I decided to ask
    you guys.

I am currently leaning towards riding up PCH to Oregon, and then
inland through Idaho and over to WY. The return trip
could be down through Utah and across Nevada.

Ah..... it took me a while to figure out what you meant: Mosquito
    repellent. Gotcha!!

On this topic, since this will be a 2-week+ trip... does anyone have
    advice about laundry?
Clothes can get pretty rank under all that M/C gear - but I hate to
waste a half day tracking down a coin-op
    laundramat.

  5. I scored a wonderful boondoggle: at the end of July I attend a
microfiber clothing from your local camp store or
    http://www.aerostich.com/home.php?cat=291

wash it at night it'll be dry by morning, and much cooler under your suit.

I am heading out Hwy 50 to Paonia on July 9th, so I will be able to post an
    update before you head out.
If you do take Hwy 50, I second the warning about water and speeds, if you
fly over that road you won't make the gas stops.

But that is the way I am going!

  6. Rankness in the clothing department:
Wear clothes that are ready to be tossed. That way when you throw them in
the 'bage at the motel you won't feel so bad. Plus the ride back is
lighter. Always keep one good set in the tankbag for your class. Consider
the sink in the motel as your personal laundry--that's how great-granma did
    it probably.
    Later!
(Wish I had a roommate and wasn't spending 110% of my income on
rent......I'd be full of travelling plans too....)

Get some colored markers and paint all your t-shirts like the American
flag. Take shower with clothes on and fly shirt in wind while passing
    through red states.

I have a Phoenix jacket which served me well riding to Vegas a couple of
    years ago...
    Um. No. I have a few comeras (2 SLR's and one 'Sure-shot'
automatic). I was plannining on just carrying
the sure-shot in my jacket pocket and when I have a good shot "shoot
from the hip". I doubt I will want to
make that many shots "from the saddle" since I'll be riding solo most of
    the way.

BTW: I have a video camera which I have wanted to film some rides ....
it can handle an auxillary input so I
was thinking of fabriacting some mount so I can put a security cam on my
bike and put the video camera in
my tank bank.... then I can start the film right before a good stretch
of road. Does anyone have any experience
    with this sort of thing?
