On my R1 i get the pegs under the arch of my foot, knees slightly ajar &
rest my elbows on my knees, very comfy & the only bit that can get a bit
harsh is the seat, no sweat though :)

I'll second the **** camping bit, it's for homeless people & jolly
    hockey stick eco wankers.

You can put camping gear on the GSXR. I've done a couple of walking
trips to the Lakes and a 5 day roundtrip of Scotland on the GSXR with
camping gear. Soft panniers containing cooking stuff, Thermarest and
sleeping bag. Tent bungied on the top of them. Clothing in the
    Baglux tank bag. Easy-peasy.

Never underestimate how much extra shit can be attached to a tailpack
using a couple of cargo nets.

Which reminds me of three Germans doing the Pyrenees each on a 1200GS. Hard
aluminium panniers, top case, pillion seat replaced by some sort of luggage
    rack...

By the time they had set up the 4 rooms tent, the table and the chairs, and
before proceeding with the barbecue, some drunken Dago asked "Schöne
Biergarten, wo ist die bayerische Orchester?"

I'd agree with you except in this case, it's the owner of both bikes
    who's doing the comparison.

  12. I disagree strongly. I like camping and I like any excuse to cook in
the open. Mind you I did spend three weeks in
France/Italy/Switzerland/Austria/Germany on the GSXR last year carrying
    clothes and camping kit.

I'm a big fan of slinging everything in one holdall, bungied on the
pillion seat. This means everything can be taken off the bike in one
lump if necessary, and you don't have to do several trips if you're
camping some distance from the bike. That being said, I can get a
sleeping bag, a thermarest, and a one-man tent into a standard Oxford
    tank bag.

Further on this topic, this season Top Gear Kolditz episode proves
that they all fit in a shite, olde and small -but Bavarian- BMW M3.

    Which made oi larf.

I roll containing tent, stove and sleeping bag over bck seat.
    1 tank bag with clothes.
    1 credit card.
Can we agree to differ ? I have always found plenty of cheap sites, even
    in August.
Only the large ones, every town has a municiple site, never had a problem
getting onm and the French behave. The brits go the bigger ones.

Anyway. Decision made, it's the thou. I've even ordered a nice new
    front tyre for it.

I think the K1100 is sulking because on the way to the airport I
suddenly became aware of a new noise... sounds like the exhaust is
blowing at the manifold, I suspect one of the gaskets has gone. Well
I hope it has because the alternative is expensive.

Sounds nice and rorty now. Suspect I'll ride it home at slower than
110 since at that speed it sounded loud.
