I had been planning to get a new bike anyway and I rather think the
repairs to the bike willexceed it's economic value so I'm getting a
Suzuki GSR600 K6 to replace it.

I'm not much of mechanic and more to the point my arthritis doesn't
permit. So "breaking" for spares would be hard. What's likely to be the
most remunerative way of disposing of the SV650 which has a good engine
and rolling chassis but minus radiator, tank, handlebars, clutch &
    brake levers, etc.?

Bang on the money there. I'd repair it, you'll get far more for it as a
good one and not be left with all the crap that no-one buys on eBay.

Tanks can be repaired and painted, which is cheaper than replacement.
Buy the rest of the bits from breakers or eBay. Spend less than half a
day of your own time putting it back together. It's really not that hard
and you don't need to be a mechanical genius or even very dextrous to
    replace broken bits.

I nearly missed the offside rear quarter of a car with the bike
radiator and my foot, this dumped me onto the tarmac doing most of the
rest of the damage to the other side of the bike. I think the radiator
fan might be bust too. The bikes a 53 reg with about 25,000 on the
clock and has been my regular commute so it's not exactly shiny and new
but had just been taxed and MOTd.

As others say, the best way is to get it rideable, using used parts and
pattern replacements (where available) and flog it that way. You'd get
help here with the spannering, if you needed it.

The most lucrative way is *definitely* to break it, but you've given
    your reasons there.

Flogging it as a damaged repairable, as you say, is the worst option.

    Your call.

Does the tank leak? Does the rad need more than a quick repair to the
filler neck? Are the levers actually broken ?

Looks like a fairly average entry level road legal hill climb bike
after an excursion up the tarmac to me. If you are in striking distance
of me I will lend a hand. Arthritics of the world unite!

Rad, bars and levers may well do the job, but the tank won't fit. I'd be
looking for a Baglux cover if I couldn't find a tank.

Repairable - no idea of cost though not as cheap as a tank from a
    breaker perhaps.
